There is a good reason Qwirkle won the MENSA award for board games. It is a simple game to learn--TIC TAC TOE on steroids--but very engaging and somewhat addictive. Children can play it easily, and it would help younger children with shape and colour recogniton and space relations. It is a strategy game that involves a bit of luck and also teamwork when played with four or more players.
Qwirkle requires a fair amount of surface area on a table. You may think of it as a combination of TIC TAC TOE, [wordless] Scrabble and Dominoes in nature. You may also want to make sure you play it in sufficient light, as the red and orange tiles can be difficult to distinguish in poor light. Players who are colour blind may find Qwirkle difficult to play.
The game is simply but well made of painted wooden tiles that should last a lifetime. I highly recommend it as a very enjoyable and challenging game for both young and adult players. It is refreshing to play a game that involves no electronics, timers or dice.Get more detail about Qwirkle Board Game.
