My brother and I created this game for our parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary eleven years ago. Properties consisted of things like homes they'd lived in, schools they'd attended, organizations for which they'd worked or volunteered, vacation spots they'd frequented. Good News and Bad News were true-life incidents in their lives (how my dad broke a tooth on his new bride's bean soup, etc.). As time has passed, we've added Good News and Bad News cards with anecdotes of children and grandchildren (e.g. when my sister and friend accidentally locked themselves out of a mountain cabin on a snowy winter night, in pjs and barefeet). Not only has this become a "family history book", but a treasured game to play at family gatherings -- a fun way for family history to be passed on. In fact, the young grandkids were usually the ones to request that we play it. And just yesterday, my mom brought "Larsonopoly" with her to Easter Dinner. We older ones enjoyed reminiscing as we landed on, for example, our childhood homes. What a satisfying experience to listen, when her grandson got a "Good News" card, to Mom retelling the sweet story of how she and Dad (who passed five years ago) met. The one thing I wish we had done is laminate the game immediately after we created it, as the print has worn down with time. However, I believe Mom is getting that done today. :-)Get more detail about Make Your Own Opoly Board Game.
